  13.     I have just bought above 14000 external modem complete with 
  14. Faxworks software, to run on a 386 with Windows 3.11.
  15.  
  16.     When I try to switch to Terminal mode to access remote host, I 
  17. get error message 'Faxworks unable to initialise modem' and cannot 
  18. proceed.

  21.     (( I think problem may have been triggered when software peruaded 
  22. me to register by fax with an unspecified organisation, the phone number 
  23. of which was unobtainable from my line (? a US 800 number ? - 
  24. unfortunately the number is not listed in the documentation, and there 
  25. are no instructions on how to cancel a call if a wrong number is dialled. 
  26. I pulled out the pnone line cord to disconnect)))
